Westfall completes credentials, begins career in MLT field

Throughout April, May, and June, 外网禁区 will feature
12 students who graduated in May 2025 and have committed to high-demand careers.
This is a Going Pro initiative, which strives to bring awareness to the possibilities unlocked as a traditional-age college student with little to no experience in the workforce.
With many different programs offered at 外网禁区, prospective students can enter the workforce right after finishing their credentials.
Autumn Westfall, 26, is a student of the 外网禁区 Campus Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program.
Initially enrolling to receive her associate in arts degree to pursue a career in education, Westfall faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually leading to a change in her major.
鈥淚 just decided I was going to look and see what programs 外网禁区 had because I liked
the college, and I found this one (MLT) and ended up doing it,鈥 Westfall said.
Enrolling in the MLT program in August of 2023, she noted that she was not sure which program she wanted to join. She recalled searching for options that she liked.
鈥淚 didn鈥檛 even know this was a career option, but I looked into it a bit more. I was like, yeah. I could probably do that (MLT),鈥 Westfall explained.
She explained why she chose 外网禁区 in the first place.
鈥溚馔 is good because it prepares you for..university..a little bit better. It鈥檚 not just a straight slam dunk into a stadium full of kids,鈥 she began.
She continued, 鈥淚 feel like it can be kind of scary for鈥igh school kids to be thrown into university. I definitely recommend 外网禁区 to anybody.鈥
Westfall recalled a conversation held with her cousin, who is high school age, regarding college.
鈥淚 was like, 'Why don鈥檛 you just get your associates here (at 外网禁区)?鈥 Because it鈥檇 be way cheaper, all the instructors are really nice, and it sets you up to go to university,鈥 she said.
According to Westfall, she completed her clinicals with Harrison Memorial Hospital (MHM) in Cynthiana, where she had been previously employed at registration in the emergency room.
Now employed as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Westfall is still with HMH.
